Mindfulness Meditation

Wednesday evenings 5:45-6:45pm.

In gratitude for the space, donations to eviama of any amount are welcome. Peaceful City Sangha facilitates this silent meditation, and welcomes everyone, from any background or tradition, who wants to practice meditation and mindfulness in community. We begin at 5:45, usually with a brief reading, and then sit for half an hour, followed by discussion in which anyone is welcome to share their experiences – joys, challenges, questions, etc – regarding their practice.

Beginners are welcome, and simple meditation instruction is provided on request. Our group grows out of the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, Vietnamese Zen Master, poet and activist.

GreenFest Philly

Greenfest Philly is the largest environmental festival in the Philadelphia area. With over 100 exhibitors and vendors, Greenfest is the place to learn about living sustainably while having fun! This event has something for everyone: shopping for local green wares, great food, live music, live demonstrations, kid-friendly activities, and more.

PARK(ing) Day PHL

PARK(ing) Day is an annual, daylong global event where citizens, artists, and activists collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spaces into “PARK(ing)” spaces: temporary public mini-parks, or "parklets". In Philadelphia, approximately 60 volunteer teams design, build, and install these temporary 170 square-foot parklets throughout the city as a gift to their fellow citizens. All parklets are self-funded.

At the end of every PARK(ing) Day, the Center for Architecture and Design hosts a public party in its space at which an invited guest inspires us with their vision for the future of our sidewalks and streets, and also present their Golden Cone Awards to the teams who created the most inspirational and delightful parklets.

PARK(ing) Day challenges us all to reconsider whether we are making the best use of our limited urban spaces.

PARK(ing) Day Philadelphia is presented by the Center / Architecture + Design in partnership with the Philadelphia Parking Authority, the Urabn Design Committee of AIA Philadelphia, the Community Design Collaborative, + the Charter High School for Architecture + Design.

PARK(ing) Day was founded in 2005 by Rebar Group, a former San-Francisco-based architecture and design firm, and was first organized in Philadelphia in 2008 by Zimmerman Studio. Since 2014, the program has been managed and presented by the Center for Architecture and Design.
